The Houston family is pleased to announce that a public memorial service for our Dad, Jim Houston, will be held at First Baptist Church, 969 Burrard St, Vancouver, Canada, at 1 pm on Saturday May 2, 2026. While this service will be live-streamed, we invite any who wish to come and celebrate the life of our father, and to worship and give thanks to our God. In accordance with the long-standing practices of our parents, a reception will be held afterwards as we gather to share a refreshment together. As ever, all are welcome. Further details will follow as needed.

We thank God for the kindness and compassion of both Rita and Jim in the first few years of our mpre-marital counselling for us, then happened to be in London and was available to speak at our wedding in July 1984. My first encounter however was in May 1983, when he and Dr. John Stott spoke at the inaugural weekend away for the London Institute of Contemporary Christianity (in the UK). Their influence on my and our spiritual lives was and is immeasurable. We were so thankful to have a visit with Jim in 2024. Rest in peace, as we give thanks for your life and graduation to join the heavenly throng.
Thank you Kevin and Maria. We know that you have been faithful correspondents with Dad and appreciate your care and support for him in this way. He certainly lived his life to the full and we have much to continue to learn from him as we ponder his life.
Warmly, Claire
Dear Chris (Jean), Lydele (Gordon), Claire (David), and Penny (Wayman); by his twelve grandchildren, Jen (Tim), Nick (Yolandi), Allison (Jordan), Amanda (Scott), Justin (Britt), Stephen (Christy), Jonathan (Sophie), Julian (Angela), and Natalie; and by his 17 great grandchildren, Luke, Chelsea, Charlotte, Ian, Zoe, Bennett, Danica, Brinley, Emmy, Arden, Jacob, Addie, Brooklyn, Winston, Heidi, Samuel, and Elisabeth,
May you be comforted by your father's grandfather's and great-grandfather's faith and courage, as he is now at rest with the Lord. He has touched many lives, including mine, and I am grateful for that. Thank you for sharing him with so many.
Sincerely,
Angelina Van Dyke
Thank you! Kevin & I will be praying for your family as you prepare for this very special service. I'm truly sorry we cannot attend in-person due to distance, but we will watch the livestream. We were blessed to meet Dr Houston when we were in our 20s and then be impacted by him again at Regent later in our lives. Blessings, Maria Ortega Kummer (Regent College Summer 1981, 1995-96)
